Julia

"This item is has a controversial origin. My mother and I debate whether or not it was a childhood item of hers, or if I bought it at a tag-sale the I was younger. Either way, it’s my favorite music box out of my collection because of its bright tone and deep nostalgic effect on me."

Litchfield, Connecticut

"This is my most precious and expensive gift of mine as it is a gift commissioned by my sister from a ceramist in Iceland. When I received this gift she said to me “Flounder is so delicious to eat,” despite it being my current favorite animal at the time. "

“Never take more than I need”

“If you tell the truth you will never get in trouble”

"A functional and sentimental item of mine that was gifted from my mother. I’ve used it with multiple graphic design projects and have alway been enamored by how it magnifies the flower."

"Connecticut is like a hurricane central. I remember, when I was younger, my dad–when there were like intense hurricanes and thunder lightening–he would just go out with a lawn chair, open a garage, and just watch the hurricane. And I used to think that it was so thrilling and different. It brings out the wilder side of me and it reminds me of happy memories, especially when there was no school."

Magnolia

"They are sentimental flower because it was at my first house where I grew up in. We had maybe four really large magnolia trees. They also only grow for like just a week or two, so it's exciting to see it for that period of time and makes me appreciate them. I love the colors, too. I used to pick them apart, and petals were so shiny and iridescent. I used to pretend like I'm a fairy. They are elegant and I love them. I draw them quite a bit."
